Put our Delis to Work
for Thanksgiving Dinner

Copywriter Chris Allen

Thanksgiving is only two weeks away and I’m starting to get excited! I always get “big feelings” when I think about my favorite holiday. There’s so much wrapped up in the tradition this time of year that it’s hard to process it all. The back and forth with family about who’s going to host or where grandma and grandpa are going to stay when they visit. The aunts and uncles we don’t see as much as we should and all the kids running around (what’s that kid’s name again?). The brief, bittersweet moments when we notice the spot at the table where a loved one used to …

Happy Halloween!
(Is it Thanksgiving Yet?)

Happy Halloween everybody! Hope you have a fun and safe holiday. Growing up in the cold weather and blistering snow of a mountain valley in Montana always made Halloween a challenge. I quickly learned not to spend too much time on a fancy outfit that no one could even see buried under thick, pillowy winter coats and hats.  You could still get away with a cool scary mask, though, but that was about it. Maybe that’s why I quickly got bored with Halloween and fell in love with Thanksgiving. More food, fewer cavities. Make Memories, Not Mashed …

As Leaves are Falling
the Bakery is Calling

Marketing Manager Sue Transeaux

Soup ‘n’ Sweater Season Returns

Copywriter Chris Allen

Can you feel it? That autumn crispness in the air has returned to the Puget Sound. And after a brief bout of unseasonably warm early October sun, the clouds and rain have returned to cover us in that gray blanket we know and love (or at least that’s what I’m told. I’m from Montana — Big Sky Country — and we like our sunshine.) Organic Leeks are Peaking – Soup is Calling I love to grill as much as the next guy but when the mercury starts to drop, I can’t wait to pull out the big pots from the cupboard — or pry them from my 1-year-old’s steely …

Chilau Seafood Sauce:
Hard to Pronounce
But Very Easy to Love

Marketing Manager Sue Transeaux

When it comes to Chilau Seafood Sauce – I’m not sure if I’m more enamored with its flavor or its story. “Spice artist” Michael Anderson. The creator of Chilau (pronounced chi-lah or shalla) Seafood Sauce is self-described “spice artist” Michael Anderson, who writes on …

Here’s to Tender Swine,
Intelligent Fowl,
and a few Pear Pairs

Marketing Manager
Sue Transeaux

This week I’m thinking about Northwest pears and a couple of easy-but-hearty options for the center of my plate, a term that once meant some kind of protein that complemented the sides. Today, people are redefining the plate – but let’s stick with the traditional meaning for today’s purposes. So let’s just say I’m thinking about those “central components” and if they could be on sale – even better! This Chicken is Smarter than the Average Bird …

Soft Spots: Hard Cider,
our Oktoberfest Fare
and Non-Plastic Wrap

Marketing Manager
Sue Transeaux

Hard cider aficionados know that craft ciders are as complex and nuanced as fine wine and as drinkable and refreshing as good beer. But if you avoid ciders thinking they’re sweet and taste like apple juice, you’re comparing apples to oranges (so to speak).Today’s ciders, especially those made by small-batch, artisanal producers; include a wide range of flavor profiles and vary from bone-dry to semi-sweet.Just as different grape varieties are used to make wines with distinctive characteristics, those who brew craft ciders are intentional about what apples they …
